A FORMER London PR director turned pub owner and self-taught chef has been crowned PubChef of the Year 2008. Ross Williams, who left London five years ago to buy the Wellington , in Wellington, Herefordshire, with his wife, Philippa, scooped the top title in the PubChef Food Excellence Awards at a glittering awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane, London.

TESCO GO ONE SHARPER - KE280 Commercial Electric Knife Sharpener – Press Release
Tesco are the first Supermarket to purchase the Nirey KE280 Commercial Electric Knife Sharpening Machine from Knife Wizard Ltd. The KE280 was launched in 2002 and in 2003 was awarded ‘Best of 2003’ and ‘Catering Product of the Year’ by Meat Trades Journal and another leading publication. This model is the commercial version of the KE3000 Professional machine which is stocked by many in the Housewares industry (RRP £129.95).
Subsequently, thousands of butchers (approximately 1 in 2) have purchased this machine. Supermarkets however, were slower to respond but after extensive testing in 5 stores, Tesco’s Mark Withers pronounced the KE280 a winner and ordered 470, one for each of the Tesco stores with fresh food counters. Training and installation will take place between November ’07 and January ’08.
